Welcome to Visitors and Newcomers
Visitors and Newcomers are always welcome at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Cheyenne. We were all newcomers and visitors ourselves at one time and want to offer to you the friendship as well as the "space" to explore our religious community.
Our Church is located at 3005 Thomes Avenue which is at the corner of 30th Street and Thomes Avenue. Parking is available in front of the church and beside the church as well as in our church parking lot, which is behind the church (off of Pioneer Avenue). We try to be a good neighbor and thus try not to park in front of our neighbors' homes.
Our Sunday Services are at 10:30 a.m. each Sunday morning. As you enter our front door you will be greeted by one of our members who will give you a Sunday program and invite you to make a nametag if you would like. If you arrive early and would like to look around the building that is just fine-if you'd like a guided tour just ask the greeter and they will be glad to find someone who can show you around.
We offer childcare in our Nursery for babies and toddlers. Children and youth come with their parents into the Meeting Room/Sanctuary for the first part of the service before leaving for their religious education programs downstairs.
If you have children or youth, you may want to arrive early and meet our Director of Religious Education, Shelley Montgomery, who can show you around and show the children and youth where their age groups will meet. Sometimes children (and parents!) find it helpful to have their parents with them for the first Sunday or two and we welcome this. We think you, too, will enjoy the r.e. program. Our primary concern is that our visitors of all ages feel as comfortable as possible and sometimes your presence with your child is how this can happen best!
At the Welcome Center you can pick up a copy of our current church newsletter, which will offer you information about events, programs, and meetings for the current month. As you walk through the Lobby to the Meeting Room/Sanctuary you will pass by a table called "Clipboard Corner". Here you will find a myriad of activities and events and community outreach projects that are open to members, friends, visitors and newcomers. If something appeals to you, please do feel free to sign up.
Our Sunday Services usually last about one hour (sometimes a little longer), The children and youth programming lasts until 11:45 at which time you are asked to pick up your children if they are younger. Older elementary children and youth come upstairs on their own.
Coffee Hour in our Social Hall follows the Sunday Service and is a gentle and fun way to get to know us better. We have a "Welcome Table" right inside the door where you can stop to talk with church members and ask questions, gather pamphlets, and find out more about us.
Throughout the week we offer a variety of programs, activities and events. We hope you will try out one or more of these in addition to our Sunday Services. Please see other sections of this website for fuller information on special as well as ongoing groups and events.
Thank you for your interest and we hope that we will see you in church. If you have any questions, please do call the church office (638-4554).
