Abuse and Healing
Rev. Audette Fulbright
Sunday, November 29, 2015 10:30 am
Sunday December 6th 12:00 pm at UUCC
Many hands make light work, but hot cocoa and treats make a party! Plan to stay a while after church on Sunday, Dec. 6 and help us decorate our Holiday Tree, place decorations around the church, sing some holiday songs, and generally enjoy a good time with other UUs while helping get the church into the holiday spirit!
Join Rev. Audette, Rob & Ani at UUCC Thursday November 26th from 11 am – 12:30 pm for a Thanksgiving day luncheon. Bring a favorite dish to share and come enjoy a relaxed and social holiday meal! There will be music, conversation, and great food. Feel free to bring friends or family, as well – everyone’s welcome!
The Church currently has a significant inventory in scrip which is redeemable at several local grocers. The idea is simple: The Church buys the scrip at a slight discount and when you buy it, the church gets that small profit (free money!) and our liquid cash flow improves. You then use the scrip at the participating grocer just as you would cash. Why wouldn’t we do this? As we enter the Holidays, food purchases tend to increase. Use scrip and you help the Church with each dollar you spend!

It is with great pleasure to inform all of you that Kristi and Andy Ruben have stepped up to assume the lead coordinator role for the Family Promise Program at UUCC. Please continue to support them as you have supported the current coordinators. I am sure they will do a wonderful job.
The mission statement for Family Promise has been changed to “Helping Homeless Children with Families.”
The next rotation for Family Promise is the week of November 29th to December 6th. There are still several volunteer slots to be filled. If you have an interest or could help, please meet with Kristi or Andy Ruben.

Christmas Stockings for Homeless Children and Youth
This year our church community outreach holiday project will be to make and fill stockings for the homeless children and youth of Cheyenne. According to our local school district, there have been between 250 and 300 school children with no fixed address enrolled during the past 2 years, and of those between 40 and 60 are considered “unaccompanied,” meaning they do not have a parent or guardian present in their daily lives. We have been in communication with Denise Kittelson, student support liaison for schools, and she is most appreciative of our project idea. So here it is, you kind and generous people!
Each Sunday before and/or after service, we will have tables set up in the Social Hall with all the materials needed to decorate about 60 stockings. We hope the children AND parents and other adults will each decorate one stocking – some for boys and some for girls, young ones and teens. Directions will be on the tables. Then comes the FUN part! We need to fill them with small gifts. Here are some suggestions:
Hats Gloves/mittens Socks Underwear Food (snack bars, fruit snacks) Hair Brushes Hair ties for girls
Personal care items (shampoo, lotion, lip balm, deodorant, toothpaste & brushes, etc)
Small toys for younger ones Small gift cards ($10-15) from King Soopers
And of course items that you all think might be fun!
Please place your donations in the food collection bin in the church lobby or give to Sandi Gaulke (630-5856 or email@example.com)
We will also accept cash donations to purchase the above items.
