Membership Classes at UUCC!

The next class is May 20th!

NOTE: Sunday’s class time has been changed from 11:45 to 9:00 am due to the Annual Meeting

Have you been thinking about becoming a member of our congregation? Are you interested in learning more about Unitarian Universalism or UUCC? Starting this month, we’ll be holding our new member classes on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month from 11:45 – 12:45 in the Library. On the first Sunday of the month, Rev. Hannah will lead us in an exploration of Unitarian Universalist history and identity. On the third Sunday, our Membership team will lead us through some history and identity of UUCC specifically. Newcomers and long-timers and everybody in between are welcome to attend!

Both classes will be required before joining UUCC, and there will be an opportunity to join the church on the 4th Sunday of every month! If you have any questions, please contact Rev. Hannah at hrvillnave@gmail.com

Family Promise Week is Soon

There are currently only 2 families in the program as one of the large families has found an apartment! Of course, that could change as FP of Cheyenne is interviewing for a 3rd family to enter the program.

Please sign up on the board in the social hall to host these young families.

A Big Thank you!

A BIG thank you to all those who donated items for Day of Giving!  They filled the back of Gaulkes’ car. Special gratitude to Eileen Walsh who gave a big box of crocheted hats and scarves. All the gifts will be greatly appreciated by folks in need in our community!

General Assembly

Thank you

Your small but mighty Installation Committee would like to thank all the staff, members and friends of UUCC who helped with Rev. Hannah’s joyful and heartwarming Installation Service & Reception. Thank you to all those who cooked, baked, or bought food for the reception and to those who helped to set up and take down. Special thanks to Shelley for baking Rev. Hannah’s one-of-a-kind fabulous cake. If you missed seeing it, you are sure to see photos, as it was photographed second most only to Rev. Hannah herself! Thanks to Arlene Shanklin and to those who contributed to making Rev. Hannah’s unique stole as a gift from the congregation. Thanks to those who loaned us their punch bowls and drink containers and to those who helped to serve food and drink and to wash dishes. Thank you to those who jumped in to serve as greeters and ushers at the last minute and to those who helped to plan the service. Thank you to those who housed out-of-town guests, who advertised the event, who bought and arranged flowers and to all those who helped in ways that we may have forgotten to mention here. We needed each and every one of you to create this most special occasion. Thanks to Marcie and the choir and to everyone who showed up to attend the service. Finally, thanks to the Installation Committee for their efforts to plan and execute this special event. With much gratitude to you all from the Installation Committee: Camille Furtney; Caroljean Bongo; Gordon Johns; Ellen Stump; Beth Howard and especially to Rev. Hannah for giving us such a wonderful reason to celebrate!

Service Auction Update

This year’s service auction was a great evening of food, fellowship and fun where we raised over $23,000!  A heartfelt thank you to all who donated their time, gifts and generosity to make this auction such a huge success. Let’s keep it up by taking care of any balance you might have!  We have received all but about $4900.  If you have a balance due, please make your payments as soon as possible.

If you have any questions about your donations or purchases, please contact the church office at 638.4554 or administrator@uucheyenne.org.

Summer of Seuss!!!

Announcing the SUMMER OF SEUSS!!!!!

TEACHERS NEEDED!!!!

Please join the Faith Development Department this summer by volunteering to teach a Sunday “One Room School House” style lesson based on the famous Dr. Seuss and his wonderful stories. Each lesson is based on a specific book and has step by step, UU based, guided, multi-age curriculum to accompany it. You’ll be paired with another teacher and supplied with everything you need to host a great session with our UUCC youth!!! Please email, call, or text Mary at (307) 220-2096 or at the office Tuesday and Thursday 10 -2. (307) 638-4554…  ASAP to pick one or two Sundays this summer that you can help.

You can also click on the link below and add your name to the schedule. If you already have a background check that is current, you’re good to go. If you need to complete a back ground check before volunteering, I will get you one to fill out and return ASAP. It takes a couple weeks to get the results and we do need results back before anyone is able to participate in a Faith Development class. Thank you in advance for understanding!

peanut-allergyCHURCH NOTICE:

We have posted signs up around the church a number of times but again we must stress the importance of NOT bringing any peanuts or foods with peanuts in them into the building at all. We have a member of our congregation that has a deathly allergy to peanuts and anything with peanuts in them. When this member discovers there are peanuts in the building, they have to leave immediately. This means that they miss out on our various activities or meetings that they need to be at.  The allergy is critical and we DO NOT want to alienate this member or any others who have this allergy. PLEASE, PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD! that we cannot allow peanuts into the building. (If you are bringing in a packaged item, please try to check that it wasn’t manufactured in a facility that processes anything with peanuts.)
