Invitation to Gene Heater’s Lay Ordination

Saturday Feb. 10, 2018 at 2:00 pm

UUCC members and friends,

An important event is coming up for me in February.  I will be formally ordained as a lay practitioner in the Soto tradition of  Zen Buddhism. My Jukai ceremony will be held at the UU Church of Cheyenne at 2:00 pm on February 10th or 17th depending on the weather.  A reception in the social hall will follow.

This ceremony is a formal recognition that I am a Zen practitioner in the Soto tradition.  It will be presided over by the Reverend Jodo Cliff Clusin, a Soto Zen monk and Dharma Teacher at the Prairie Mountain Zen Center in Longmont, CO.
I invite everyone to attend.  I would welcome you joining me for this celebration but please do not feel obligated to do so.
Please let me know if you plan to attend so that we know how many to expect for the reception.
If you would be interested in serving as an usher please let me know.
Please contact me with any questions.

peanut-allergyCHURCH NOTICE:

We have posted signs up around the church a number of times but again we must stress the importance of NOT bringing any peanuts or foods with peanuts in them into the building at all. We have a member of our congregation that has a deathly allergy to peanuts and anything with peanuts in them. When this member discovers there are peanuts in the building, they have to leave immediately. This means that they miss out on our various activities or meetings that they need to be at.  The allergy is critical and we DO NOT want to alienate this member or any others who have this allergy. PLEASE, PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD! that we cannot allow peanuts into the building. (If you are bringing in a packaged item, please try to check that it wasn’t manufactured in a facility that processes anything with peanuts.)
