Love Makes a Bridge

In life, we are always building walls and boundaries, or bridges and connections. This Sunday, love reaches out, and we imagine what might be possible when we choose to try again, even through hurt and misunderstanding, even in moments where we cannot yet see what might come next. This is a time to try on communication skills like compassionate communication, apologies, reflective listening, and more, placing them in a religious context as tools for spiritual growth.

Preacher – Reverend Elizabeth Mount

All are welcome!

Friends, families, kids, teens, and everybody!

We are so excited to FINALLY be relaunching our Religious Education Committee and our Faith Development program here at the UU Church of Cheyenne! It’s been a little while since we were able to meet in the classrooms downstairs, to join together in fellowship and to make art, play games, and find our path toward our values together through stories and discussions.

Here’s a little bit about the program:
RE Classes will happen on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month.
Teachers will take the children downstairs to the Rainbow Room as the worship service closes at 11am and run until 11:45am.

We’d like to have you register so we know what you need!

What about the Adults?
•    We invite parents to relax, have some coffee and a snack, chat in the social hall, or move to the library for conversations about parenting and faith.
•    All church members and friends are welcome to volunteer with RE, just ask an RE Committee member to have a conversation and get you set up in a role you’ll enjoy.
•    Adults who would like to deepen their own spiritual development should watch the newsletter for upcoming classes:
o    UU History,
o    Theology,
o    conversations on Death and Grief,
o    a Pathway to Membership class,
o    and a book club, are all launching throughout the Spring.

In addition, Wellspring will have openings for a new spiritual development cohort in the Fall, Beloved Conversations for anti-racism work will be available online in a Fall session, and a new chalice circle for reflective conversations may open in the Fall as well.

If you’re an adult, we invite patience, but if you have kids… well, have you registered yet?!?
Our next RE classes happen Sunday February 26, 2023! We look forward to having you there.

In faith and love,
Rev. Elizabeth and the whole fabulous RE Committee (Rhonda, Amy, Mark, Marcie, Andy, Sharon and Jessica)

Sign up Sheet is posted in the Social Hall.

On the round table in the lobby, there is a signup sheet for Coffee Hour. We need that sheet filled up today or we are going to have to start sending out Coffee Hour cancellations for the weeks ahead, and nobody wants to miss out on coffee and treats! Please put your name down for one of the next three weeks to set up or clean up. If the date you choose ends up not working out for you to come early or stay late, you can cancel or switch dates easily by contacting  Jan at administrator@uucheyenne.org,or Kayla.
Or, if you are someone who likes a predictable schedule, let Jan or Kayla know if you can make coffee every third Sunday or want to take down tables one Sunday a month. We can put that in a regular slot for you and our Realm system will send you a handy Friday reminder to your email whenever it’s your turn!

Please sign up at least once each quarter so everyone has an opportunity to volunteer.
Thank you!

You Were Made for Such a Time as This
In the book of Esther, from the Jewish scriptures, we find a young woman who is unsure of herself, yet accepts wisdom of her uncle and finds the courage to expose a plot against her people. Just as Esther accepted that she had been placed in her role as queen “for such a time as this,” we shall think about the power we have been given and hope to use wisely in these times.
