We are searching for pictures of church members engaged in summer activities to display at InGathering. These activities do not need to be at church. Please leave color prints in the church president’s box or email images to email@example.com. If they are from a camera, we can carefully color copy them and return the originals (please put in an envelope and mark return along with your name)

If your keys are not etched, stop by to chat with Shelley so she can etch them. It’s helpful to let her know you are coming so she can be ready for you.
We are also happy to accept returns of keys, if you no longer find yourself needing it. You can put it in the box on the administrator’s door in an envelope with your name on it and what it opens.
We are trying to clear up our records and ensure we know who has access to the building. Thank you for helping us secure our beautiful building.
We know, we know, y’all are sick of school registrations, sign ups and general “back to” anythings. But it is that time again! Please update your Nursery-12th grade child’s registration for UUCC’s Faith Development. Howdy ya’ll – Welcome back to a new year at UUCC.
For this year’s In-Service Luncheon we are preparing a milk can dinner; consisting of sausage, potatoes, carrots and other yummy veggies! A vegan protein option will be available. (we have 2 volunteers to make bread but we could use help here as well)
New this year will be a potluck dessert bar. We are asking our members and friends to prepare a dessert with a fall harvest theme in mind (apples, peaches, pears, etc.) And as always we need volunteers for this awesome food, fund and fellowship event. A sign-up sheet is available at clipboard corner.
The books have been closed for Fiscal Year 2017 and the last quarter was outstanding. In spite of additional expenses related to the search and the unbudgeted expenses for transitioning to Reverend Hannah, the quarter was in the black by about $ 2700. Compared to the final quarter of 2016, we were ahead in all areas of revenue. Pledge Income led the way at $ 35,633.51 vs. $ $ 20,952.75 last year. An increase of 70%. Contributions were also strong coming in at $ 3167.61 which was a 50% increase from the $ 2102.58 that was taken in during the same quarter in 2016. The star of the show however was fund raising income which tallied $ 8287.27 a blowout 427% increase from the $ 1937.48 collected in 2016. Way to go.
For the entire year, overall pledge income was actually down about $ 2800 from what we collected in all of FY 2016. However, all other areas of revenue were substantially higher so total revenue came in at $ 194,554.58 vs. $ 175,273.49, an increase of 11%. Expenses were higher as well coming in at $ 215,138.95 vs. $ 210,058.34. This was predominantly due to the increased expense for search and the unexpected roof repairs. Kudos to the staff and volunteers for keeping expenses down. We had many areas come in under budget. The deficits were funded by drawing down our reserves. The good news is the net draw we had to take from major gifts this year amounted $ 20,584.37. Not so long ago, we were thinking the deficit would be closer to
$ 50,000 for the year. So, we are definitely going in the right direction. Still a lot of work to do to get to long term sustainability, so hopefully the momentum will continue.
Congratulations on a great quarter. On another note, there are still some sizeable receivables that are owed from the service auction. If you have not squared up your bill, please make an effort to do so. Shelley has the information if you still have anything outstanding.

UUCC Spots on Public Radio. Please Help!
Working with public radio has been a very popular and I think effective way to get the word out about UUCC. This year I am hoping the spots will coincide with Rev. Hannah’s arrival. The cost will be about the same as last year, $1,400, for 60 spots. I think these are dollars well spent. It brings new people in and I know our members like hearing UUCC spots on the radio. Including in the spots that we are welcoming a new minister adds to the excitement.
Please help. Some of us may even give the money we would normally give to the WPR membership campaign to the church instead, and these dollars go right back to WPR – doubling the impact.
Check should be made out to UUCC and mailed or dropped in the collection plate. Please put “public radio” in the memo line.

Many of you have heard the exciting news about the Wake Now Our Vision Collaborative Campaign Legacy Challenge. The Collaborative Campaign is a shared endeavor by the UUA, the UUMA, UUSC, Starr King, Meadville/Lombard, and the Church of the Larger Fellowship created to lift up the important work of our Unitarian Universalist institutions and the many ways they serve to promote the values of Unitarian Universalism in our nation and in our world.
The Legacy Challenge portion of the Wake Now Our Vision Campaign seeks to strengthen our UU institutions and our congregations through the power of planned giving. A legacy (or planned) gift is often the most meaningful and significant gift individuals will make. A legacy gift is the culmination of a life’s work and it speaks to the values of the giver beyond their lifetime. A strong planned giving program can transform a congregation and, through our combined generosity, has the power to fortify our vital institutions for generations to come.
The Wake Now Our Vision Legacy Challenge will be providing resources to give our congregations the tools they need to start or revive planned giving initiatives. We are creating brochures, webinars, workshops, and web resources to help in harnessing the potential of planned giving in our communities and in our broader movement. These materials will be ready for our congregations by the 2016 General Assembly in New Orleans.
In order to promote and inspire planned giving among Unitarian Universalists, the Wake Now Our Vision Legacy Challenge will match new legacy gift intentions at 10% of the gift’s estimated value (up to a $10,000 match on a $100,000 planned gift) with a cash match. Our institutions and congregations will benefit now from this match and will benefit even more in the future from legacy gifts. This match is made possible through a generous grant offered by the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Shelter Rock.

Join your fellow Mountain Desert District Unitarian Universalists in worship, workshops, fellowship, and the important business of the district at the MDD Gathering and Annual Meeting. This year’s theme is Seeking Spiritual Maturity and Religious Growth. The October 13-14 gathering is hosted by the Unitarian Universalist Church of Boulder.
Advance registration is open through October 3. Pay the early-bird rate ($68) if you register by September 10. After advance registration closes, adult registration will be available on site for $85. Childcare is available for Saturday and can be reserved with your advance registration. A separate registration will open soon for youth (ages 14-18) attending Fall Youth Con.
The keynote address, “Grown Up Souls: Spiritual Maturity and Religious Purpose”, will be delivered by the Rev. Dr. Kendyl Gibbons.

A Conversation about Governance in the Larger Church is designed for leaders in congregations with 300 or more members. Presented by Rev. Christine Robinson, First Unitarian Church of Albuquerque

We have posted signs up around the church a number of times but again we must stress the importance of NOT bringing any peanuts or foods with peanuts in them into the building at all. We have a member of our congregation that has a deathly allergy to peanuts and anything with peanuts in them. When this member discovers there are peanuts in the building, they have to leave immediately. This means that they miss out on our various activities or meetings that they need to be at. The allergy is critical and we DO NOT want to alienate this member or any others who have this allergy. PLEASE, PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD! that we cannot allow peanuts into the building. (If you are bringing in a packaged item, please try to check that it wasn’t manufactured in a facility that processes anything with peanuts.)
