Our beloved pets and all the creatures of the earth are so important to us, as UUs! It’s time again to celebrate and remember them – in body and spirit! Bring your socialized pet for our annual blessing, and/or bring a picture and story of a beloved pet who has left us. Even stuffed animals are welcome to be blessed at this special service! So come one, come all – because All God’s Critters Got a Place in the Choir at UUCC!
***Don’t forget to walk your pet before the service!
Make Your Way Back to UUs…
Sunday, September 11
Plan now to be with your UUCC friends and family for our Annual Homecoming/Ingathering service and celebration! We will have our water communion, special announcements about the coming church year, install our Board, and after the service – a fabulous PANCAKE BRUNCH and our Activities Fair!
This is one of the great rituals of our church year, and we want to see YOU there – especially if you’ve been away awhile!
Come home to UUCC on Sept. 11. See you there!
Sometimes, you just need a quiet place for healing, prayer, or sitting with grief or joy. UUCC is glad to announce that our new Grief and Healing space is now open during church office hours – Tuesday – Friday, 9 am to 12:30 pm. The space is in our church sanctuary, on the chancel to the right.
The Grief and Healing Prayer space has a place to sit – on zafus on the floor, or you are welcome to use on of our choir chairs and return it to its place when you are finished. There are electronic candles you may light, paper and pen for writing prayers or expressing needs & joys, and there is a prayer book and prayer cards that you may use for inspiration or to revive your spirit.
Being open during our church office hours, which is when our Church Administrator is maintains the building as open for visitors and members, we ask that you make a brief visit to the church office before entering the sanctuary, so our administrator may know you are there. The church office should always be open and staffed between 9 am and 12:30 pm, Tuesday through Friday, and in the event of a serious emergency or administrator illness requiring the church to be closed during open hours, a sign should be posted. If you arrive at church during posted office hours and find the church closed, please contact the Minister at firstname.lastname@example.org so we may respond.
If you have mobility issues and/or require the use of a wheelchair, you may need to call the office before you arrive so the sanctuary/accessible door can be unlocked, and so you may be otherwise accomodated, as the chancel does not currently provide wheelchair access.
We hope that having a place designed for prayer and healing will be a gift to our community. Please also remember that we also have a designated meditation space that is maintained on our upper floor, and multiple times weekly when meditation groups are led by gifted lay leaders.
Join our Lay Pastoral Visitor’s Team!
You will be trained to offer comfort and support to people at those times when they just need a caring presence. More than a “friendly visitor,” lay pastoral visitors bring a caring UU presence to the challenging moments of life.
For more information or discuss becoming a LPV, contact Rev. Audette at email@example.com, or 540-556-3798.
We’d love to find 2-3 folks who would enjoy coordinating meals and/or rides when our UU members and friends need a helping hand! Or, you could help us send cards to those members and friends whose circumstances invite our love and support.
To volunteer, contact our admin., Shelley Reher, at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 638-4554.
We want YOU to help us enliven ministry in the coming year! If you have some show-chops, or want to develop yours, let Rev. Audette know you’re up for some church-based playtime!
After a number of years, Mike Shonsey and his right hand partner, Kathy Jenkins, are laying down the mantle of handing the church auction. We are looking for a team of 4-5 to help us build on their success! Dream big! The church auction, a favorite event for most UUs, is ripe for expanding into the community. Talk to Lynne Weidel, UUCC President (email@example.com) or any member of the Board if you’re willing to be part of a terrific new auction team!
