Easter calls us to celebrate renewal of the heart, spirit, body, and world. But how can we mark this holiday in such anxious and isolated times? Join us on Zoom to pause, reflect, and find holy creativity at work in unexpected ways and places.

All are welcome!

Thank you all for your continued support of the church. Here are a few things you can do to help the church community continue to thrive even while closed:

If you are using or planning to use Give+ for Sunday collection, pledge or other giving, we would very much appreciate if you would set up an account with Give+ (instead of using it as a guest). This will keep your information safely for future use and also simplify bookkeeping.

Did you know that you can pay your Service Auction bill using the Give+ application on your phone or through the Church’s website? This allows you to pay using your bank account or a credit card.

You can prepay your pledge for this year! If you are financially able to, please consider paying the remainder of your pledge sooner than the June 30 deadline for this fiscal year.

Living Generously Campaign:
Thank you to everyone who has turned in a pledge form. We very much appreciate it as we develop the church’s budget. Currently, our pledge amount is somewhat lower than last year, with a number of pledge forms not returned.

If you are in a position to turn in your pledge form, we would appreciate receiving them. If you are feeling uncertain in these times, we fully understand and will accept them whenever you are comfortable turning it in. We would appreciate if you could let us know that, if you are comfortable doing so, as pledges have a direct effect on the budgeting process that is currently ongoing.

We have been fortunate to receive a $4500  grant from the Unitarian Universalist Association to support Family Promise, which is currently struggling for funds as it provides for extended hotel stays and restaurant eating for families we serve. We hope this will relieve some of the pressure on Family Promise, so we can help keep this valuable program alive and well.

Dear UUCC Families and friends…
a note from your Director of Religious Education

WE NEED CONNECTION!!! (is that just me?) Watch Facebook for more info coming soon on activities and Zoom rooms/parties to help keep us busy during our isolation (we might even learn something along the way).

I can imagine the changes taking place in families and homes all over our world right now. My heart is heavy. We need each other. Remember… We are strong. We are resilient. Take a minute to breath. We’re slowing down. Life is a little different for a while. Please reach out to myself or Rev Hannah if we can be of any help. We are here. We are with you. You are loved!

Just breath (😊)…

Director of Faith Development, She/Her/Hers
Chair – Mountain Desert District – LREDA

For those without Facebook. I understand and am working to make information available to everyone. If you don’t have/use Facebook and would like an update via text or email, I can do that, send a note to me, Mary Scherden, Director of Faith Development at DFD@uucheyenne.org. In the meantime, I’m looking for apps that can keep us connected without the use of Facebook but still keeping the Safe Congregations rule of 3 in effect. Keep watching your UUCC Newsletter for additional information.

Our friends down at Foothills UU in Fort Collins have put together some great resources about how to access Zoom. Check them out here.
Below you will find links to participate in yoga classes via the Zoom video chat app.  For those who haven’t used it, Zoom allows you to watch and listen to the presenter, and you have the option of turning off or on your own audio and video. If you do not yet use Zoom, you can download it from your app store either on your computer or phone, or both.  It is easier on a bigger screen.  I advise trying it out with a friend or loved one before class to get used to its features, or contact me and I can walk you through it.

Each class has its own link.  It seems all you have to do is click the links below, near the start of class time.  So far I haven’t had to also type in the meeting ID.  If you’d like to try it sooner, let me know and perhaps we can do a trial run.

For now, Zoom limits meetings of 3 or more to just 40 minutes.  I am in the process of paying a subscription fee to upgrade so that we can have longer class times: an hour to 75 minutes is my goal.  Not sure how long that will take, as there was a glitch when I tried to do that earlier today.

As for payment, I’m going to try a social experiment of setting up a PayPal and Vimeo account and letting it be on a voluntary donation basis as to if and how much people are willing or able to contribute. Per a couple of students’ suggestion, you may also mail payment to me:

COMMITTEES

If you have a committee meeting or other UUCC-related gathering scheduled between now and the end of March, please contact Rev. Hannah at minister@uucheyenne.org to schedule access to the Zoom “room” for most UUCC meetings. Please contact Mary at dfd@uucheyenne.org to schedule things related to Faith Development programming for children and youth.

This is also an anxious time financially, for individuals and organizations alike. If you are able, UUCC values and appreciates your continued support through this time. If you typically put cash or a check in the offering plate on Sunday mornings, please consider mailing that donation to the church, giving via our website, or giving via our mobile giving app.

If your financial situation changes and you need to adjust an automatic deduction, please email bookkeeper@uucheyenne.org for more information.

If you find yourself in need of emergency financial assistance, please email Rev. Hannah at minister@uucheyenne.org or call/text her at 414-870-1028.
Email and text scammers are continuing to target churches through this crisis. A member of our staff or lay leadership will never email or text you and instruct you to purchase gift cards. If you receive a suspicious request, please alert a staff member immediately.
Important! Please Read!

We have been experiencing a growing issue with peanut residue in the building, especially in the library.  Please, do not bring peanut products into the building, and if your little ones enjoy their peanut butter snacks before coming, please be sure their hands are clean before they touch surfaces used by everyone.  We are seeing almost daily allergic reactions, so we ask you to please be diligent. It may be an inconvenience to you, but it can be life-threatening to those who are allergic.

Upcoming Events

Click here to see the calendar of upcoming events at UUCC!

You will notice some changes to the calendar.  All cancelled events are noted on the calender, and I have added the Zoom meetings that we’ve announced. All Zoom events are in light green.

The information on how to join the Zoom meeting is in the description of the event. If you have any questions, please contact me.

Hopefully these changes will help you easily find
the information you need.
Thanks!

Registration must be paid in full on or before February 29, 2020.
The UUA is committed to the goal of making GA accessible to as many attendees as possible. Go to uua.org/ga to learn about scholarships to support participation – particularly of those from marginalized groups – and volunteer opportunities (work in exchange for registration). The UUA is committed to addressing the inclusion of all people, whatever their abilities might be, in all GA activities. Beyond the physical accessibility of the facilities we use – ramps, captioning, seating cut-outs, etc.- we endeavor to take the next step: to truly welcome people with disabilities into every facet of GA.
