50 Years Later: Dr. King’s Legacy and the New Poor People’s Campaign
Rev. Hannah Roberts Villnave
Fifty years ago this week, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated while in Memphis, Tennessee advocating for striking sanitation workers as part of the Poor People’s Campaign. Today, many of the changes for which he worked are yet unrealized. This Sunday, we’ll reflect on Dr. King’s legacy and wonder what it calls us to do now.
Mary Kingston, wife of Tim, died in Alabama on March 20. She and Tim were active at UUCC and major supporters of COMEA. A memorial service will be held at 10 AM April 25 at the Laramie County Library.
Grace McDuffie’s husband, Bill, passed away on March 29. His memorial service will be held this summer.
We are looking for letters from Wyoming college, high school, Jr. high, or elementary students asking Superintendent Jillian Balow to say NO the Uinta County private immigration prison.
Please speak from your heart, say why you are against this prison and how it will negatively effect our community.

The next class is April 15th!
Have you been thinking about becoming a member of our congregation? Are you interested in learning more about Unitarian Universalism or UUCC? Starting this month, we’ll be holding our new member classes on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month from 11:45 – 12:45 in the Library. On the first Sunday of the month, Rev. Hannah will lead us in an exploration of Unitarian Universalist history and identity. On the third Sunday, our Membership team will lead us through some history and identity of UUCC specifically. Newcomers and long-timers and everybody in between are welcome to attend!
Both classes will be required before joining UUCC, and there will be an opportunity to join the church on the 4th Sunday of every month! If you have any questions, please contact Rev. Hannah at firstname.lastname@example.orgShamanic Womb Cleanse Workshop

Mark your calendars for Saturday, April 21st, an important day in the life of our UUCC community when Rev. Hannah will be installed as our settled minister. The installation service will be at 3:00 in the sanctuary, with a reception to follow at about 4:30 in the social hall.
You can help make this a special celebration by signing up to bring food (word has it that Rev. Hannah loves cheese!), helping with set-up, and/or helping with clean-up. Clipboards will be available in the foyer and circulated during coffee hour.

We have posted signs up around the church a number of times but again we must stress the importance of NOT bringing any peanuts or foods with peanuts in them into the building at all. We have a member of our congregation that has a deathly allergy to peanuts and anything with peanuts in them. When this member discovers there are peanuts in the building, they have to leave immediately. This means that they miss out on our various activities or meetings that they need to be at. The allergy is critical and we DO NOT want to alienate this member or any others who have this allergy. PLEASE, PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD! that we cannot allow peanuts into the building. (If you are bringing in a packaged item, please try to check that it wasn’t manufactured in a facility that processes anything with peanuts.)
