When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
It is the time of year that we ask the last rays of sunshine to soak into our marrow so we can get through a long Wyoming winter. It’s a time of deep gratitude, grateful for what we have and grateful for what it is in our power to give. Lucky for the RE program we have amazing volunteers and committee members to be grateful for a holiday pageant coming up that has me tickled and excited. Angel wings! Kathy Jenkins dog as a donkey! Small children in beards and lots and lots of music! It’s like all of my favorite things.
We will be assigning parts for the Nativity Pageant on Sunday, December 1 so please make sure that your children are at church that day. The Pageant will be December 15 during the service, and I’ll give you a spoiler alert right now: Kayla Lyday, the children’s choir director, and Mary Powers, the music director, are helping us with the music, and it’s going to be fantastic!
I am pleased to announce the long awaited kick off of our Senior High Youth Group this January. The Sr. High group will be led by Kristi Ruben and Shelly Montgomery which is like a dream team of experience, passion for teen education and Unitarian Universalist values. The Sr. High group will be meeting at noon in the Sr. High room starting January 5, and all senior high students are welcome, so please bring friends!
We are pleased to announce teen volleyball will be starting on December 5. If you are a teen, please join us in the social hall every Thursday from 5-7pm for a really friendly, fun volleyball game. Please call Kristi Ruben (631-5490) or Sara (214-2556) if you’d like more details – we’ll provide everything.
Thank you for all of your help and support for our program,
Sara Burlingame, DRE
