Some choose and receive leading, visioning, and decision-making roles as they fulfill leadership responsibilities in the ministry of our church. Serving on the board, task forces, or committees as a leader extends involvement beyond personal interaction to the kind of ministry that strengthens our church. Newcomers are encouraged to think about what gifts they have to offer to the work of our church community.
Pastoral Care at UUCC exists to provide help and support to our members. This group strives to provide comfort and care to members who are home-bound, providing food or transportation to those who are ill, visiting people in the hospital, assisting each other through life transitions, helping with memorial services, generally keeping the minister aware of the pastoral needs of the church, and listening to friends. We provide meals, cards, home and hospital visits, care and assistance to anyone in need. If you or someone you know could benefit from these services, please contact Rev. Special committees that are elected by a congregation vote:
The Endowment Committee manages the church’s endowment funds.
The Committee on Shared Ministry is an elected team, whose mission is to pay attention to and support the ministries of the church, both lay and professional. We work to listen to ministry leaders and make sure they have what they need for success, and we work to make new ministry ideas possible when there is an idea that has congregational support. The COSM works in partnership with the Board; while the Board sets the vision and handles the governance and fiduciary aspects of church life, the COSM oversees the ministry side.
Leadership Development Team replaces the older model of a Nominating Committee, the Leadership Development Team, appointed by the Board, is a team whose focus is on developing the leadership qualities of all members. While the LDT does a) recruit members for elected leadership, and b) recruits team members for committees of the Board, the LDT also runs workshops for church leaders and all members at various points in the year and meets year-round.
The Ministerial Search Committee, when needed, searches for a ministerial candidate and nominates that candidate to the congregation. A ministerial search is an intense process that takes several months to complete.
