We have reached The End. Not only the end of the calendar year, but also the end of my first full year as the Director of Lifespan Faith Development at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Cheyenne. Come January 1st and this will all be old hat, been there done that, right?
I cannot believe it’s been an entire year… and I cannot believe it’s only been a year! I feel like this year has flown by and yet I feel like I’ve always been a part of this family. I guess that means I truly am home. This month is a busy one for families and so we like to keep it as simple as we can around here. In fact, this year we have decided to forgo the “Holiday Pageant” and chosen to replace it with an Easter pageant this spring. We are looking forward to our Christmas Eve service where the children will be invited to participate in the festivities.
Due to family illness and thanksgiving, children’s choir took a break the last three weeks of November but we’re back at it the first Sunday, December 6th of this month. Get ready for some fun holiday tunes!
Our self-led High School Group has chosen their new curriculum and can’t get wait to get started diving into the meaningful lessons the UUA has to offer. We’re very proud of the motivated leaders that are emerging out of this group.
9th grade trips have been going very well. Big thanks to Jennifer heater and Shelley Montgomery who have graciously been providing carpools to and from these wonderful events.
Our Whole Lives Sexuality Education for 7th and 8th graders will begin NEXT MONTH!!! We have 4 dedicated volunteers who are working diligently to create our customized, 8 week program. Sign up will be available online mid-December.
This year our church community outreach holiday project will be to make and fill stockings for the homeless children and youth of Cheyenne. We hope that all of the children will be able to make a stocking with a little help from their parent or caregiver in the social hall before service over the next few weeks. More details are in the weekly newsletter. Please help us with this fun project for such a great cause.
Happy holidays, everyone.
