Suzanne Says Yes!
At the Special Congregational Meeting held on Sunday, April 20, the members of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Cheyenne overwhelmingly voted to call the Rev. Suzanne Meyer to be our Settled Minister. Soon after the meeting, the Search Committee called Suzanne. Suzanne accepted the call and will be our new settled minister. She will move to Cheyenne soon, but will not start at the church until August.
The Search Committee did a wonderful job and we thank you.
Yippee!

Interim Minister's Journal
Rev. Linda Bunyard
On January 19th President George W. Bush announced an economic stimulus plan to plan to "goose" economic growth in our nation, saying he wanted to provide a "shot in the arm" to keep a fundamentally strong economy healthy.
On May 4th this outgoing Interim minister is announcing my own stimulus plan for the on-going health of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Cheyenne whose economy is also fundamentally strong. There is so much good ministry that could be done next year. And I really don't need that $600 rebate. I don't have any plans to spend it for doctors or cars or clothes or travel. I am grateful that I don't need it for the basic necessities, thanks to the fair compensation I have received here this year. And so I want to give the whole darn rebate to the this church for next year's ministry. I want to fertilize and water those seeds we planted in March for music and worship and religious growth and caring and outreach next year with your new settled minister.
After President Bush announced his growth package he flew by helicopter to Frederick, Maryland, to tour a lawnmower-manufacturing plant where he predicted a bipartisan accord. After my announcement on May 4th I'll be turning to the choir and pianist and predicting widespread buy-in to my stimulus plan. I'll be visiting the children's classes downstairs and talking to our CIHN coordinators and reminding the entire congregation that this is the kind of growth we need in our nation--liberal religious growth. Particularly growth of this congregation so that it can become an active force for peace and justice and equity in Cheyenne and our world.
So here is how my UU stimulus plan will work. Most taxpayers will get rebates in May, June and July. If you don't need the money to bail you out of financial distress this Spring, think about giving a portion of your rebate to the UU Stimulus Fund. If you were looking forward to stimulating the economy with trips to Home Depot and Barnes and Noble or sharing it family members in need, think about giving 10% to the UU Stimulus Fund. If you were planning a cruise to Acapulco, think about giving 50% to the UU Stimulus Fund first. And if you are like me an just can't think of anything you need that rebate money for, think about giving it all to the UU Stimulus Fund.
When the Reverend Suzanne Meyer has her feet on the ground in Cheyenne next fall, the Board and Finance Committee and Minister can ask the congregation which of the seeds we planted might be ready for harvest.
Rev. Linda
