Family Promise of Cheyenne is made up of a group of local faith based organizations – churches, the synagogue & the local mosque that provide shelter, warm meals and more to homeless children and their families. Families rotate from week to week from the various host churches. Over the week of November 6 – November 13, the UUCC was the host facility for the two families that were in the program then. Both families are doing the best possible, given their circumstances. Both have people working, earning money, and saving for their own place to live; the kids all seemed to be doing quite well also. Another aspect to the week was a very successful handoff from the UUCC Family Promise coordinators, Andy & Kristi Ruben, to Susan Lett, Carol Bowles, and Norman Bretz. We are so grateful for the organization and communications that Andy, Kristi, Jim – and the other program leaders & volunteers all shared with us.

A big special THANK YOU goes to all of the kindness & generosity that all the UUCC FP volunteers for giving so selflessly your time, energy and effort to help these families. Many of you attended the Volunteer Appreciation Dinner in late November and a good time was had by all. So as the year 2016 winds down and comes to a close, and we begin to start a new year, we look forward to paying forward more of the blessings that we have collectively gleaned.

The next rotation at UUCC will be the week of January 15th through January 22nd, 2017. We would really appreciate any questions folks may have about how you can help with this worthy effort. There is a signup board in the social hall that is open and partially filled already. We still need over-night and evening hosts, as well as some slots during Saturday, Sunday, and Monday daytime.

Please don’t hesitate to call if there are any questions you have. Carol Bowles 221-6445 for volunteer signup, Susan Lett 514-1885 for general or city wide program questions or, Norman Bretz 256-2993 for set up and tear down.

Many thanks to you all —

Susan, Carol, Norman
