“I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.”
~ Martin Luther King, Jr.
During our last rotation 8-11-13 t0 8-18-13 UUCC hosted two families. One of these families Jessica, Mathew, Shane, and Meicca is still in the program. Jessica has started the Climb Wyoming Program and is doing very well. The other family Kenena, Lonnie, Kyler, Kaylyn, and Shane has also been successful and they have moved into the IFSS Transition House. The IFSS House is owned by the IFSS program and can accommodate two families. The families may stay in this House for a period of two years during which time they continue to receive financial, budgeting, and other guidance. During the two years in the Transition House they are required to pay prorated rent, utilities, food and to establish a savings plan. At the end of the two years they will have saved enough to make the necessary deposits to obtain their own house or apartment.
Our next rotation will be the week of October 20th to October 27th. Following is a list of the volunteer duties during the UUCC host week.
~ Daytime hosts stay with the families during the day on Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 5pm. These days are divided into two-hour periods.
~ Dinner hosts provide and serve dinner each evening from 5pm to 7pm.
~ Evening hosts stay with the families each evening from 7pm to 9pm.
~ Overnight hosts stay in the church each night from 9pm to 7am.
About two weeks prior to the October rotation we will be asking for volunteer support. If you haven’t volunteered and would like information, please contact one of the coordinators. We can have you co-host with an experienced volunteer your first time. They will work with you and help you become acquainted with the program.
